Travel Souvenirs

As summer winds down, enjoy jewelry that reminds of vacations past or puts you in a vacation state of mind, in the form of vintage travel souvenir jewelry. Whether you are drawn to kitschy wooden hand-carved mementos from the U.S., micro mosaic pins from Italy, or charm bracelets dangling with the collected travel charms of yore, now is the perfect time for some retro fun.

A vintage charm bracelet of carved wooden figural motifs – a bear, a skunk and a dog – plus a heart inscribed with the word “Sequoia” bring to mind memories of West Coast travel. (The bracelet pictured is from a private collection.)

Here’s a  mid-Century link-style bubble bracelet depicting scenes from New York City in five panels –  the Empire State Building, Times Square, the Statue of Liberty, the United Nations Building, and Rockefeller Center.  Since the United Nations headquarters building was completed in 1952, this bracelet likely dates to the 1950s.  (This bracelet is currently available for sale on eBay.)

The perfect souvenir is a piece of jewelry that makes you smile every time you see it.
